PAMA Canadian Regional Meeting
Fake It Before You Can’t Allow It To Be
Feb 11-12, 2017
Faculty of Music, College of Toronto
Toronto, ON, Canada
Join the Canadian region from the Performing Arts Medicine Association at its winter meeting for any weekend of fascinating presentations, warm collegiality, dynamite performances which stimulates mix-disciplinary exchanges between researchers, health care professionals and musicians, dancers along with other performing artists. Found at the school of Music, College of Toronto, smack in the center of the busy Bloor Street Culture Corridor, the meeting will showcase presenters including eleven time Juno winning music performer Phil Dwyer, Nancy Kadel MD, an memory foam surgeon focusing on dancers and osteopath, (and former ballerina) Jennie Morton.
2010 theme, Fake It Before You Can’t Allow It To Be compares the pressure on performers to hide their physical injuries and mental stressors until they’re in a critical point or orgasm. The greater this really is introduced to light, the sooner they are able to seek treatment and also the better the probability is of full recovery. Prominent performers will share their tales of health challenges hidden and revealed , and pioneers in the area of Performance Health will prove to add their clinical and research knowledge.
This meeting is pertinent to artists over the performance spectrum, in addition to researchers, practitioners and specialists thinking about the humanities.
